Before discussing three-dimensional diagnosis, it is important to understand the modern medicine and natural medicine approach and philosophy. Modern medicine has developed excellent technology to determine where the illness is on a patient. They have spent many years and countless dollars to develop diagnostic machines and equipment for this purpose. So when a patient comes into our office and tells us that modern medicine has diagnosed them with an illness, it is probably accurate, but often times incomplete.

The pathological study of modern medicine is definitely appreciated. With relative accuracy, the test results indicate a diagnosis. However, lab tests only tell what the problem is, but it does not completely report where it originated, why the patient developed it, or how to treat it. Once modern medicine has discovered the chronic or acute ailment, it is recommended that the patient switch to natural medicine for further diagnosis, to determine cause factors, and prescribe proper treatment.

A main difference between modern medicine and natural medicine is that modern medicine looks at each organ apart from its organ system, while natural medicine looks at the organ along with the organ system and how it is relevant to the entire body. In other words, if a patient has a problem with eyesight, modern medicine often prescribes glasses or surgery to treat the problem locally. Modern medicine assumes the eyes are separate from everything else, and often treats the problem locally.

Natural medicine, on-the-other-hand, investigates the reasons why the patient had good vision previously and has now developed trouble with near- or farsightedness, blurred vision, glaucoma, cataracts, etc. Natural medicine looks from head to toe, inside and out for the answer. If a patient develops problems with eyesight, the liver, spleen, stomach, and kidney systems are considered. Likewise, conditions such as heart disease, immune and auto-immune diseases, reproductive disorders, hormonal imbalances, and thyroid irregularities, also originate within the 12 vertical systems.

A major purpose of the liver is to rid the blood of toxins. If the liver is blocked or unable to function properly, problems will manifest somewhere along the liver meridian. A meridian is an energy stream that runs through the body. For the liver system, this energy channel begins from the feet and travels up along the medial portion of the leg, through the reproductive organs. It continues upward along the hypochondriac region to the liver (its main organ) and travels to the chest and thyroid. From there, it goes to the eyes, brain and the vertex of the scalp.  In natural medicine, none of the organs work independent from the rest of the body. Therefore, in the example of poor eyesight, the problem can be traced to the liver since the eyes are the windows of the liver and are on the liver meridian. When the liver is cleansed, strengthened and normalized, good eye sight returns.

Modern medicine often tries to solve problems locally with artificial chemicals or drugs. Drugs may provide temporary relief, but there are many short-term and long-term negative side effects associated with its use. Some patients take drug medications for headaches, and for months and years, there is no improvement. The treatment provided by the drugs may help relieve the pain, but it does not treat the cause. Often, the drug medication covers up the real problem while the illness goes undetected and becomes worse. Synthetic drugs can also cause side effects that create other illnesses.

Natural medicine focuses on treatment of the cause of the disease or disorder. The body is never attacked with chemicals and symptoms are not covered up. The body was created with the miraculous ability to heal itself, and natural medicine unleashes these capabilities. Natural food therapy, natural herbal medicine, balanced nutrition, proper treatment, correct sleep and exercise patterns, and good lifestyle habits provide the necessary tools to benefit and heal the body. Therefore, if there is healing in the body, natural medicine will build upon it and the patient will get well. If there is no healing within the body, the disease will get worse.

Depending upon the area of study, modern science has 40-60 years of technology upon which it relies. Also, the studies are mostly done on rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and monkeys. That which is researched on rats may be beneficial for rats, however, humans are much more complex. These tests and studies are done on animals not on the human body. Animals are animals and humans are humans.
